The Highlighter That Made Me A Believer

January 12, 2019

One thing you should know about me as a makeup artist is that I am not very trendy. I love natural beauty and don't tend to be up on the current fads. I'll catch on eventually, but nine times out of ten, I feel like my tried and true ways of doing things are better. I don't own a "contour kit" and had never even touched a Beauty Blender until a couple weeks ago. (It was awesome, by the way! Way softer than I was expecting.)

For a while now, I have been seeing makeup artists on Instagram finish their looks with a touch of shimmer on their cheeks, nose, and usually in many other places that they may or may not need to. Now we have a highlighter CRAZE and clients are begging for that "J-Lo Glow". I wasn't convinced. Every highlighter I would try was either too bland and I couldn't see it, or too bold and caused imperfections to stand out. Who wants that?

Then I met Rituel de Fille.

I tried their Rare Light Luminizer in the shade "Ghost Light" and I was hooked. I keep it in my purse and rarely leave the house without it on. It completely changes my look. They have five shades (swatches below), two of which are limited edition.

From left to right: Anthelion, Phosphene, Ghost Light, Lunaris, Solaris

The texture of this product is perfect. It's a cream, so it is easy to apply and blend with the skin. The problem I have with most creams is that they tend to be too dewey and move around or separate the makeup you put it on top of, resulting in a patchy finish. This one doesn't do that. It's a drier (still hydrating to the skin, though), thicker, consistency that stays exactly where you put it.

Here are the five different shades (in the same order as the photo above):

Anthelion

This gold-hued color gives your skin a natural sun-kissed glow. It is wonderful for warm-toned skin. If you have a lighter complexion and are wanting a soft glow, this will be great. On darker skin tones, this can serve as a neutral or bold highlight, depending on how it's applied.

Phosphene

A rose gold glow that looks good on just about everyone. If you are looking to get a gift for someone or wanting to make a statement without stepping out of your comfort zone - this is the luminizer for you. The soft pink color is great on the lips or on top of your favorite blush. (It is all I am wearing on my lips in this photo.)

Ghost Light

My favorite! This one is a true white highlight that makes you look like you are glowing from the inside out. It's bold with a pearl finish. It has more of a cool, silver, undertone, so if you gravitate toward warm tones, this may not be the best option for you.

Lunaris

This one is for those of you who like to make a statement or those who have every highlighter that has ever been released and you want something you've never seen before. It has a blue/lavender undertone. I LOVE using this one on the eyes, especially if yours are blue or green.

Solaris

I talk a big game for Ghost Light, but I own this glimmering pink shade as well. It has flecks of gold in it and when I am wearing gold jewelry or don't want my highlighter to be such a contrast, this is my go to.

Let me know if you have any questions about this product or would like a recommendation for the best one for your skin :) All of these can be purchased on Citrine Natural Beauty's Website. Lunaris and Solaris are limited edition shades from Rituel de Fille and are no longer available to order. We still have a few of each at Citrine so hurry into the store or onto our website to get them before they are gone forever!  They can all be purchased here.

Thank you all for reading <3
